The Harris County District Clerk's website provides civil, family, and criminal case searches. Its civil/family and criminal search sections require a registered login, and document access varies; a search result is not necessarily the complete file. Probate records use a separate County Clerk portal, with fields for a case number, court, party name, and filing dates. The County Clerk's probate information page also explains copy requests and provides court-setting links. If you already have papers, record the exact court and cause number before searching. For an inheritance question, distinguish an estate proceeding from property records or family correspondence. Knowing which record you have can make the next conversation more focused.
