Travis County divides records between different offices. The District Clerk handles district-court records, including civil, family and felony matters. County Clerk services include misdemeanor, civil and probate records. The county law library's court-record guide provides a useful directory when you are unsure where to begin.
The District Clerk also lists different in-person locations for civil and family records and for felony records. A records counter is not necessarily the location of your hearing. Use the court named in your notice and the county's court directory to confirm where you need to go. For probate research, the County Clerk offers a dedicated search-and-copies page rather than requiring you to start with a general county search.
OFFICIAL LOCAL RESOURCES

No. Austin extends into Travis, Williamson and Hays counties. The city name alone does not identify the proper county or court. Share the specific location and any filed paperwork when discussing the matter.
Start with the type of case and the office maintaining its records. The county law library distinguishes District Clerk, County Clerk and justice-court searches; those links help you avoid searching the wrong collection.
